I love Mirah Yom Tov Zeitlyn. Although I’ve only seen her live a couple of times (once in Olympia, WA and once in Athens) she has that intangible charm that always pulls me in.
These songs are from the album to be released next week by K Records.
Commissioned by the Portland Institute For Contemporary Art the album Share This Place is an “insect-inspired song cycle” written by Mirah along with Spectratone International members Lori Goldston and Kyle Hanson. The music was performed live in May of this year to accompany 12 animated shorts by Seattle-based filmmaker Britta Johnson at the Seattle International Children’s Festival.
Although not as sweetly singer-songwriter-y as other Mirah records (and, really, it’s not supposed to be) it’s still a very cool project and worth a listen. So dig it.
