So many times I find myself not having time, or not making the time, to pull out old records and listen to them. I’m addicted to discovering new stuff all the time. As in practically every day.
So, since there’s only so many hours in the day for record listening more often than not what I’m playing at home and in the car are pretty recent releases or old releases I’ve just gotten turned on to. That said, tonight I dug through the crates and pulled out some older stuff so if you’re interested in what’s been going through my ears for the past 24 hours or so, but I can’t imagine why you would be, download the stuff below.
And speaking of downloading, MP3 aggregators… I love you. You send traffic my way, turn me on to new writers and records and, all in all, make music research easier even if I am regularly disheartened by the lack of originality and honest criticism in the “blogosphere” (someone, please coin a new term for this!). However, The Hype Machine is absolutely killing my bandwidth via it’s on-site MP3 player. For the third month in a row I’ve had to purchase extra bandwidth and now I’m up to 100 gigs a month. So, I had to delete a few of the more popular things. Incongruous, right? Why delete what was most popular? Well, because some of the most popular downloads from this site were by MGMT and since their album is out now and the only way people were finding the MP3s here was by doing a random web search for them (and the fact that I don’t really care all that much about exposing people to them…Of Montreal can do that). But, by far, the most popular downloads have been the Black Kids MP3s. As in HOLY SHIT! I figure that band owes me at least $35 in bandwidth charges by now. But, I’m leaving them up. Why? Because I dig ’em.
Anyway, here’s whats been playing around my place.
Old Skull’s 1989 video for “Homeless”. Classic.
the black kids are totally awesome!
You can host your mp3s on my website if you want, I have 1TB/month.
