I’ve been a fan of Klaus Nomi for, well, a really long time. But for a kid in Georgia in the 1980’s there certainly wasn’t much information, or music, to be found outside of getting a grainy VHS dub of Urgh! A Music War or snatching up some blessed LPs by driving down to Atlanta. In November of 2008 an album, Za Bakdaz, compiling the skeleton of Nomi’s unfinished opera was released. Simple Man is one of my fave all time songs especially when he says ‘its so simple’ at the end
the movie was pretty great….the nomi song is my favorite song….his interpretation of samson & delilah (aria) is fantastic and is everything that can be great about opera.
